Introduction to Sublimation Pumps
Titanium Sublimation Pump Heads - ST Series
Sublimation Pump Controller - SPC8
VG Scienta have a standard pump head with fixed dimension. The most important dimension is the insertion depth, the distance 'D' from the 70 mm OD mounting flange to the tip of the filament. The ZST22 head is fully bakeable to 350 oC, although limiting this temperature to 250 oC will increase the lifetime of the ceramic feedthroughs.
The standard ZST22 pump head has a 'D' dimension of 203 mm.
Over the years we have made many variations (as specials) on this length; the minimum 'D' that can be made is 110 mm - the largest reasonable 'D' is around 400 mm to 500 mm. Remember that the increased electrical resistance can give a reduction in sublimation performance. Please contact us for further details.
The filaments are numbered on the atmosphere side of the TSP head. When the head is mounted in the horizontal position, filament number 1 must be at the bottom; This is because the filaments sag when hot and, in this orientation, a lower filament cannot touch a higher one (the same is not true in reverse) causing an electrical short.
