Retractable VUV5k-package

vuv5k_retractable_01The Retractable VUV5k-package is the combination of the VUV5000 UV-source and the VUV5047 UV-monochromator. These components form a unique light source. The VG Scienta Retractable VUV5k-package includes the following components:

VG SCIENTA VUV5000 UV Source

This is a very high intensity, narrow bandwidth He radiation source with a total VUV flux of more than 2 x 1016 photons/sr s. It includes the VUV5050 source head and the VUV5011 microwave generator. The microwave guide components are also included. The VUV5000 UV-source is optimized for use with the VUV5040 monochromator described below, but it may also be used stand alone with a capillary VUV light guide to the sample.

Emitted radiation using Helium gas with >99.999% purity:

• 304 Å (41.8135 eV), FWHM < 2 meV (> 10 %)
• 537 Å (23.08 eV), FWHM < 1.2 meV (~ 8 %)
• 584 Å (21.2182 eV), FWHM < 1.2 meV (~ 82 %)

Guarantee:

The VUV5000 UV-source produces 2.0 microA using a 2.8 mm I.D. capillary, -15 V bias and Al photocathode.

VG SCIENTA VUV5051 Differential pumping addition

VUV5050 UV-source head differential pumping addition. The VUV5051 includes both and entrance and an exit capillary in order to maximize the differential pumping efficiency. (Note: Pump not included.)

VG SCIENTA VUV5047 UV-monochromator

The Scienta VUV5047 is a compact monochromator optimized for high efficiency at both HeI and HeII. Complete separation of HeIa and HeIß is achieved while maintaining a 1 meV bandwidth. The VUV5047 also includes a retractable exit stage with interchangeable output diameters and port aligner. 65 mm linear travel ensures compatibility with for example the VG Cryoax-models. The in-vacuum capillary-retraction is done by a turn on an easily accessible knob. Three capillaries are included and delivered with the set-up. The standard working distance is 15 mm, but this can be customized. If a tapered capillary is used we recommend a working distance of not more than 10 mm.

VG SCIENTA VUV5045 Monochromator Entrance Valve

The VUV5045 is a manual shut-off valve (a pneumatic model is available as an option) to be placed between the UV-source lamp head and the UV-monochromator to enable easy servicing of the UV-source without venting the experimental set-up. The component includes a monochromator entrance aperture.
