MX650
The MX650 is a high intensity, monochromatized Al Ka x-ray source package consisting of the XM-780 x-ray monochromator and the SAX-100 x-ray source. It is designed for optimal performance with the Scienta electron spectrometers as the spot size on the sample is dimensioned to give maximum intensity through the entrance slit of the analyzer. Furthermore, it is a very reliable source with high stability in photon flux and band width as well as low maintence ensuring high up-time.

VG SCIENTA X-ray source SAX-100
The Al Ka X-ray source consists of a water cooled stationary anode, excited by a directly heated W-cathode projecting a 1*3 mm electron spot on its surface. The maximum allowed accelerating voltage is 16 kV, and the permitted power is 650 W. The photon energy is 1486.7 eV in a 0.8 eV band. The cooling is provided by a pressurized, closed-circuit water cooling system.
VG SCIENTA X-ray monochromator XM-780
The monochromator consists of seven 80 mm diameter toroidal precision-shaped quartz diffraction elements in a close packed array. The crystals are independently adjustable from the outside and are mounted on a Rowland circle diameter of 650 mm. To avoid photon energy drift from ambient temperature variations, the crystals are temperature stabilized at 55°C using heating bulbs inside the vacuum chamber. The monochromator is delivered with a vacuum chamber. In combination with SAX 100 the Al Ka line-width is smaller than 300 meV. The permitted baking temperature is 150°C. |
